#109 – Elle Street & Lucas Beaufort

During The InnerSpace Project on Saturday April 25th, our Host Matt Gondek interviewed 4 different artists. This week on Episode 109 we Welcome two of them - French Artist and Painter Lucas Beaufort and Elle Street Artist - Artist based in Los Angeles, CA. InnerSpace Project is an initiative to showcase that while all is quiet outside, the indoors and artists’ studio spaces are bustling with creativity. We are here to elevate your isolated experience by producing a series of online events between the most vibrant creatives. On Episode 109 we talk to Lucas about his background in skate culture, and how it influences his work. He also mentions his experience with business, making a documentary with Erik Koston, and a few things he's currently working on. We also interview Elle Street Art, she talks about how she transitioned into becoming a full time artist, traveling to paint, the background of her artist name, and how her style has changed since she first started.

ELLE’s work has been exhibited in the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London, Urban Nation Museum in Berlin, and as a two hundred foot tall projection onto the facade of the New Museum in New York. Vogue Australia featured ELLE’s recent artworks in “32 pieces of Melbourne street art to see before you die,” and her graffiti is featured in the Tom Clancy video game: The Division. Her artwork has been published in dozens of books on streetart along with hundreds of online publications and articles. “She holds specific and hard to find creative talent which cannot be taught nor replicated.” The Taboo Group.

ELLE was approached to collaborate with sportswear brand Reebok. The brief was to take her energetic street style and apply it to clothing. The result, the ELLExReebok graffiti legging and subsequently, the ELLExReebok yoga capsule collection.

Within the New Nike Headquarters in Melbourne, one will find a 40 meter wrap around painting by ELLE. If in Berlin, one might see an Augmented reality installation with Samsung, as well as a 5 story wall along Gorlizer park commissioned by Berlin Mural Festival. She joined Steve Aoki headlining in an Asics Campaign “I Move Me” speaking on how her creativity is inspired by movement, and starred alongside Dani Leigh in an episode of ART BEATS, a Complex TV show. She touts a past global collaboration with Ikea, invitations to work with Kanye West’s creative agency, Curio, and more.

ELLE was invited to be Artist in Residence inside of the Rialto Towers precinct in Melbourne where she had her first Solo exhibition in Australia in December of 2018, “A Space for Sinners,” followed by a joint Exhibition and painting of a large scale public sculpture with renowned artist Judith Wierseman in Amsterdam at Vroom and Varossieau Gallery in 2019.

Elle finished 2020 by painting four large murals for Ralph Lauren in Tribeca NY, a 3,000 square foot painting at the base of the infamous Vessel structure in New York City along the highline, as well as a four story high tribute painting to Ruth Bader Ginsberg in the lower east side, NYC- commissioned by IntoAction- the same folks who commissioned the “Hope” Obama poster. 2021 found ELLE painting her largest piece to date at 10,000 square feet in Fort Monmouth, NJ.

In 2022 ELLE is excited to have entered into the NFT space, designed a car wrap for Toyota and painted a mural for the world premier of the 2022 Corolla Cross in New York. She partnered as Bulleit Bourbon’s official collaborator at the Tribeca Festival raising awareness for their Urban Tree Equity mission. She worked with Under Armor activating for the new Flow Synchronicity -all Female- designed shoe and ELLE’s work was featured in the new Netflix Original TV show Pentaverate - with Mike Meyers actually walking through her artwork. She is excited to have been commissioned to paint the exterior of the new Netflix Production Headquarters in Bushwick, Brooklyn within this next year. Her work is being exhibited alongside Keith Haring and Basquiat inside KunstLinie Museum in Almere Netherlands, as well as hanging in the Museum of Graffiti in Miami, FL. And Urban Nation Museum in Berlin.
